Portable ClipDiary

This is the portable edition of ClipDiary, a simple and practical utility that keeps tab of all contents going through the Clipboard. It supports text, images and files. It comes in handy whenever users need to swiftly retrace their steps to locate a particular piece of information.

Since installation is not required, you can put the program files in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run.

There is also the possibility to save ClipDiary to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.

What's more, it does not make any changes to the Windows registry, nor create additional files on the hard disk, leaving it clean after removal.

After selecting the preferred UI language at startup, users can make an initial configuration revolving around the hotkeys used to bring up the Clipboard history window, as well as to quickly copy the previous or next clip to the Clipboard. The app can also be set to automatically paste a clip after quickly copying it.

It creates a system icon tray that brings up the Clipboard history, in case users forget the assigned hotkey. From this point on, any newly copied clips will be recorded to the Clipboard history.

Selecting an item in the list reveals information pertaining to the source name (e.g. word processor, web browser), size and date of creation. It can be pasted to an active window, renamed and removed from history.

Advanced options enable users to paste multiple selected items to an active window, look up a clip on Google Search, and save it to a text document. The Clipboard live-monitoring support can be disabled.

As far as program options are concerned, it is possible to make ClipDiary automatically run at system startup and check for updates every month, play sound when recording clips, change the UI language, remap the hotkeys, customize UI colors, create an exclusion list with applications and formats to avoid saving clips from, and many more.

The tool does not put a strain on PC performance, as it runs on low CPU and RAM. There were no stability issues throughout our evaluation, since ClipDiary did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. It may be a bit difficult to get accustomed to, but this tool is a pretty decent Clipboard manager that users may resort to for keeping track of all recorded clips.
