Portable YourMoneyGuard

Designed as the portable counterpart of YourMoneyGuard, this is a comprehensive software application with intuitive options that helps you manage your budget by keeping track of expenses and income. It is capable of generating reports and computing statistics, performing multipurpose calculations, scheduling reminders, and monitoring events, among others.

Apart from .NET Framework, there is no other installation involved, which means that you can drop the program files to any part of the hard drive and just click it to run. There is also the possibility to save it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to launch it on any PC effortlessly.

Unlike most installers, this app doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry or create extra files on the HDD without your approval, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.

At startup you are required to create a new document to store all financial data in, by specifying an output directory and file name (.ymg format). This file can be saved at any time and resumed to update its information. Plus, a sample file is supplied to help you get an idea of how the tool works.

You can add as many accounts to the database as you want, and fill in details when it comes to the account description, initial balance and date, along with any notes. After this step, it is possible to create transactions with a description, date, label (income or expense), category, subcategory, account, amount, notes, and reminders. Likewise, you can indicate important events to monitor.

It is possible to define categories and subcategories, mark recurring transactions, set monthly limits and reminders, use a search function with refined filters (e.g. by description, notes, amount), check out statistics with the initial balance, monthly income, expense and balance, running balance at the end of the period, together with the highest and lowest balance, as well as to generate in-depth reports with critical financial information.

Data can be imported and exported. Plus, you can use calculators for basic operations, savings, loans, mortgage, retirement, and future value, as well as consult and print a calendar. You can change the UI language, enable automatic and daily backups, minimize YourMoneyGuard to the system tray, protect it with a password from other PC users, modify the default currency, and so on.

We have not come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that YourMoneyGuard did not hang, crash or display error messages. Its impact on computer performance was minimal, thanks to the fact that it needed low CPU and memory to work properly.

Taking into consideration its user-friendly interface and rich yet intuitive options, YourMoneyGuard should meet the requirements of most users looking for a clear-cut finance monitoring tool. The full package of the application comes at a decent price.
