This is the portable edition of Sikuli, a cross-platform software utility designed to help you evaluate graphical user interfaces of any third-party application by using screenshots.
It relies on the Python scripting language to record the image of any elements from the UI in order to rapidly generate a script which permits users to take action. Evidently, it is necessary to have some experience with Python to work with this app.
There is no setup pack involved. All you have to do is save the program files to a custom location on the disk and just click the EXE file to run the app. It is also possible to copy Sikuli to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly.
An important aspect worth taking into account is that it does not modify Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk without your permission, thus leaving it clean after removal.
The GUI is user-friendly, based on a normal window with a clear-cut structure, where you can take a screenshot or import a local image from PNG files, in order to generate Python scripts and modify code.
It is possible to examine messages and test traces, insert search functions and event observations, along with mouse and keyboard actions. You can run the code normally or in slow motion, resort to a search function to locate any part of code, as well as create a region easily.
What's more, the project can be exported to a Sikuli executable file, you can view the unit test and hide the command list, establish a hotkey for quickly capturing snapshots, specify a delay time before capture, enable or disable automatic file naming mode, customize the font name and size, deactivate automatic checkups for software updates, and switch to another language for the interface.
The app runs on a low quantity of CPU and RAM, so it shouldn't put a strain on computer performance. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and Sikuli did not hang or crash. To sum it up, Sikuli delivers efficient solutions for automating user actions by borrowing UI elements and taking advantage of Python scripts.
