Portable Vault is a simple application that encrypts the files and folders on your USB flash drives, in order to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your sensitive data. It addresses users of any skill level.
What's important to mention is that Portable Vault does not work with Windows Registry entries, so the operating system is less likely to experience issues. Plus, you can carry Portable Vault in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
The app must be installed directly on the USB flash drive in question. Upon deployment, you can password-protect your new "vault", after which you can start importing files and folders to protect, by using either the file browser, folder view or "drag and drop" method.
The list shows the name, status, size, type and date of modification for each item. In addition, you can delete or remove an item from the vault, as well as change the password into something else. Unfortunately, there are no other options available through this tool.
The easy-to-use utility is very low-demanding when it comes to the CPU and system memory, so it doesn't put a strain on the computer's overall performance. It has a good response time and includes user documentation. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing; the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. On the other hand, Portable Vault has not been updated for a pretty long time.
