Portable Driver Magician Lite

Generally speaking, creating backups of the driver configuration is an integral part of all backup activities, since they are crucial to a fully-functional operating system. You can do it manually, but using a specialized tool, such as Portable Driver Magician Lite, can certainly make things more convenient.

The tool is portable, so you do not need to bother with installation, so you can simply decompress the program in the desired location on your drives. The app comes with a single window interface that displays a list of the hardware and the corresponding drivers, as currently installed on your system.

The list contains information about all hardware, class they are part of, version, date of installation and the provider. In case you want to learn more about a particular driver, then simply click on it and extra details are presented in the dedicated window located in the lower part of the interface.

As you probably noticed, some drivers are highlighted in red, which entails that they are not part of the Windows installation package and hence, in case something were to happen, you would have a hard time finding and re-installing them. One more reason to consider backing up your drivers, especially the ones highlighted in red.

You can create a backup by selecting the items from the list and then accessing the Start Backup button. In case you want to have a backup with all the drivers that are currently installed and configured on your system, then you can use the Select All button.

Creating a backup should be a relatively fast process, especially if your system does not have too many components installed or you selected just a few. Lastly, take note that while Portable Driver Magician Lite can create backups, it cannot restore or update them, functions that can be completed via Driver Magician.
