Creates backups for your registry and restores them

editor's review

Backing up the Windows Registry is a crucial task when you are installing new software applications, since they can insert some entries which are not compatible with the operating system.

Alternatively, you could very well modify registry items and, unwillingly cause Windows to pop up errors and to stop working properly. This is where an app like Erunt intervenes.

This is the portable edition of Erunt - a straightforward software solution that performs the simple task of backing up and restoring the Windows Registry.

Since installation is not required, you may store Erunt on a USB flash drive or any other external device, save it to any computer, and directly run its executable file.

Therefore, you can always have Erunt with you when you're on the move. More importantly, no further entries are added to the registry, and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal.

The interface of the tiny application is based on a standard window where you can get started by specifying the location for the backups. Erunt can be set to backup the entire system registry, only the current user registry, or other open user registries as well. Restoring the registry data is easily done by running the REG file which was previously created by the tool.

Erunt runs on a low amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and quickly backs up the Windows Registry. We have not come across any problems during our testing; Erunt did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, the tool provides a straightforward solution for backing up and restoring the system's registry.
