Portable PC Inspector File Recovery

This is the portable version of PC Inspector File Recovery - a tool which can help you retrieve lost data from your hard drive.

The software doesn't require installation and your Windows registry entries will remain unchanged. Also, you can place the tool on an external device and run in on any other computer.

The interface of the program is user-friendly. You can recover files that were previously deleted or lost (e.g. quick format), as well as retrieve a lost drive (if the drive letter is lost or if you cannot access the drive).

You can find logical drives (by specifying the start and end sector) or get a preview (e.g. physical sector, total sectors, sectors per cluster, volume label).

Once the scanning task is complete, you can use the tree view to recover files found in "Root", "Deleted", "Lost" and "Searched".

You can use a search function, select the cluster range, view the HEX code of a file, change the interface font, arrange items (e.g. by name, by type), view drive and system information, as well as configure general options (e.g. enable to use BIOS services, disable Windows serious error messages).

PC Inspector File Recovery uses a moderate amount of system memory and CPU, includes a comprehensive user documentation and scans the hard drive in a reasonable amount of time. However, we were unable to open certain files (e.g. images) and the software popped up errors at random occasions.

The bottom line is that PC Inspector File Recovery represents a good solution for retrieving deleted files, but it needs to improve its functionality.
