Portable MegaSplit

Portable MegaSplit is a tool designed to cut any files into smaller pieces by size, regardless of their format, as well as to put them back together. It features straightforward and intuitive options for all user levels.

The whole application is packed in just one .exe file that can be copied to any part of the disk or saved to a USB flash drive, in order to seamlessly launch Portable MegaSplit on any computer without previous setup.

It doesn't need DLLs to run, modify your system registry settings, or create files on the hard drive without asking for permission.

The GUI is user-friendly, represented by just one window that reveals all options it puts at your disposal.

You can use the file browser to indicate the file you want to split and specify the size of each volume (in megabytes or kilobytes). The volumes are automatically created in the same location as the source file and this option cannot be changed. Part numbers (.001, .001..) are appended to the filenames and extensions are suffixes.

When it comes to the file combining operation, all you have to do is point out the first part of the original file, since the remaining ones are automatically identified and taken into account by the program. Just remember to keep them stored in the same directory. The original file is created in the same location too.

It worked smoothly in our evaluation, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or show error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources consumption, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM.

Although it doesn't have a particularly rich set of features, Portable MegaSplit delivers a clear-cut solution and approachable options for splitting and merging files.
