Open Menu+ Portable

Even though you’re using a really large monitor that supports a great resolution, there’s a high chance your desktop gets pretty crowded, thus taking you a lot of time to access even a program. Luckily, you can use Open Menu+ Portable to better organize the way you launch items, this one being specially dedicated to USB flash drives.

As the name suggests, this is the edition of Open Menu+ you can use on the go. In fact, it’s specially created for portable drives, and if you try to install in locally, you encounter some functionality issues and aren’t able to properly benefit from what it has to offer.

Nonetheless deploying it on an USB flash drive only takes a little while. Once it runs, a new icon appears in the context menu, and is supposed to be the new way you launch programs, at least those found on the particular thumb drive you deploy Open Menu+ Portable.

There are several tabs to better organize programs and files you want to launch through this app’s features, namely favorites, recent, computer, program, and leave. While favorites, computer and recent speak for themselves, program is the folder that’s fitted with a custom location.

However, you’re free to change the root directory of other areas too, but you’re not able to change their name. Leave refers to power options, with the possibility to power off, restart, sleep, hibernate, turn off the monitor, log off, or simply exit the program.

There’s also a large options menu where you get to configure all sorts of settings. A drop-down menu holds a decent amount of different skins, with the possibility to make it transparent, and change the taskbar’s opacity level accordingly. The options menu is also the place where you get to define roots for folders, and select items to appear. Unfortunately, you’re limited to default groups, with no options to add more.

All things considered, we can safely state that Open Menu+ Portable is a practical application that’s specially designed to be used for quick launch of files and programs stored on removable flash drives. Customization options are neat, and even though you can’t add more areas than the default ones, is sure to come in handy overall.
