Bootable media these days still remains a staple in any PC user’s arsenal, especially when considering and taking into account recurrent OS deployments, because of various reasons, such as testing for instance. There are numerous ways to prepare bootable media either manually, or, using dedicated software. FlashBoot Portable, just as its standalone counterpart, will offer users a compact and capable tool for creating their own bootable USB drives, through an intuitive, step-by-step wizard.
Right away, we noticed the transparency and the straightforward demeanor that the app carries. One will have no issue in identifying the available options, which we believe leads to more efficient handling.
Regardless of your choice of tasks, the app also provides its documentation handy at all times, via the included, on-screen “Help” menu. All that one needs to do is not forget to plug in a USB drive, and things are good to go.
One of the great aspects that FlashBoot Portable provides, it that it deploys its features almost exclusively through a wizard, which takes users through a step-by-step process, ensuring a clear and comprehensive workflow.
Besides the standard bootable media creation features, the app also comes equipped with extra tools, which are a good addition, especially for users who seek that extra bit of functionality. One will be able to duplicate images or, perform non-bootable formatting.
With an intuitive design and handling process, this application manages to offer a simple and easy-to-follow process for those who need to create bootable USB drives, duplicate images or, perform non-bootable formatting.
What's new in FlashBoot Portable 3.3q:
- Windows Setup on USB scenario, FAT32 filesystem: when OS installation image is larger than 4Gb and compressed in solid mode, FlashBoot no longer emits WIM split error.
- Bootable clones: when FlashBoot fails to duplicate original security descriptor to the target filesystem on a USB storage device, this is no longer a fatal error.
- UEFI-related scenarios: when user-supplied ISO file lacks 64-bit UEFI bootloader (due to third-party customizations or x86/x64 confusion), ISO file is rejected outright at the Wizard phase, rather than later at USB storage device formatting phase, with reference to missing WindowsBootEFIbootmgfw.efi in installation WIM (as in the previous FlashBoot versions).
