A simple but powerful hard disk analyzer that provides you with a quick way to find out the type of files and folders you store on your hard drive. #HDD analyzer #Analyze HDD #HDD analysis #HDD #Hard disk #Analyze
This is the portable edition of Xinorbis - a powerful program for analyzing the content of a hard drive partition or folder, revealing thorough information and graphical representations on the occupied space.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can save Xinorbis to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. This way, you can carry the tool in your pocket whenever you're on the go.
More importantly, the Windows Registry does not receive new entries, and no files are left behind on the hard drive after program removal.
The app is packed in a clean and intuitive interface, where you can select a directory to scan. The results include the total files and their size, average file size, null files, total folders, empty folders, the largest file and folder, among others.
You can define your own categories by specifying the file types, so you can find out their number, size and location on the hard drive. But you may also locate duplicate items and delete the copies to free up some space on the disk, as well as view files according to their age and remove the oldest ones that you don't need anymore. Reports can be exported to an external file for further analysis. They may have the CSV, HTML, TXT or Xinorbis format.
Plenty of configuration settings are available through the Preferences screen. For instance, you can enable automatic updates on startup, record folder history, make file associations, select the style for Xinorbis reports, create a favorite list, and others.
Xinorbis includes user documentation, has a good response time and runs on a moderate amount of CPU and system memory. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests and the application did not hang or crash. Xinorbis provides users with powerful features for analyzing the hard disk and generating reports on file and folder sizes.
What's new in Portable Xinorbis 8.3.1:
- Added: New Search manual. I've dumped the web-based search help system and replaced it with a lovely new and updated manual. Updating all of this content is just taking too much time. This new way forward will save me time and ensure everything is up-to-date.
- Added: Xinorbis will not count virtual or offline files when calculating sizes of folders/categories/etc. It is still possible to search for them and they will be included in reports, and other exported data.
- Added: Added a toggle for the above, a button next to the Folder History toggle. By default all virtual/offline files are ignored. Without this toggle it would be impossible to scan the root folder for such services as OneDrive or Dropbox where the folder is 100% virtual.
- Added: Several new file attribute types to the Type tab of Folder Properties: RECALLONOPEN, RECALLONDATAACCESS, and OFFLINE. These are used to represent various types of virtual file not present on the file system.
