Designed as the portable edition of GFXplorer, this tiny application gathers valuable information on your computer's software and hardware configuration.
As there is no setup pack involved, you can put the tool in any part of the hard disk and just launch the executable file. Otherwise, you can save GFXplorer to a USB flash disk or similar mass storage device, in order directly run it on any computer without previously installing anything. More importantly, it does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, leaving it clean after removal.
Simple interface and options
The GUI is made from a normal frame split into multiple panels dedicated to a specific part of the computer, namely software, CPU and RAM, audio, video and hard drive, along with tools.
So, the program shows general information about the OS such as serial number and system kernel architecture, details on the mainboard like BIOS manufacturer and version, and so on. If you have multiple hard disks and drives, you can select the one you want to view data about.
The tools section provides shortcuts to some important Windows utilities, such as DirectX, Registry Editor, Task Manager, Windows Events and Disk Management. Information can be exported to TXT or RTF format.
Evaluation and conclusion
GFXplorer offers support for multiple languages and has minimal impact on PC performance. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. Thanks to its intuitive interface and options, GFXplorer can be handled by anyone with ease.
