CMake Portable

CMake Portable is a cross-platform, professional-grade, and already established pack of tools designed to help developers build, test, and compile their software. This portable version is a blessing for on-the-run individuals forced to work with machines they might not own, as it's deployed in a jiffy.

The GUI can be found within the "bin" directory, and despite it being a professional tool, it manages to focus on simplicity and ease of use. The first piece of the puzzle would be your source code. Once that is loaded, you can proceed to choose the presets, and the location where the binaries of your software will be generated. These two steps are the most important ones.

Before processing your code, you can also add entries for BOOL, PATH, STRING, and FILEPATH. To determine an environment for your cache, the Environment Editor will help you decide on that in an instant. In case you are not happy with the current cache, you can always use the File combo menu to reload or delete caches at will.

Once you're happy with the code and presets, you can proceed to generate builds. Before doing that, however, you should look into the Configure menu. From there, you must specify a project generator such as Visual Studio, GreenHills, Unix, Ninja, etc. You can also add optional platforms and tool sets if that makes your project better.

Also, the final part of the configuration will let you choose the compilers. You can go with default native compilers, or choose to specify toolchain or cross-compiling options.

CMake is a high-regarded set of tools useful in building and testing and compiling software in the most intuitive and simplified manner possible. However, this is still a developer's tool, so it will require the expected knowledge. AS for the portability perk, this comes very handy for users who are not machine-dependent and want to be able to work from anywhere, at any time.
