A no-nonsense piece of software for programmers that use Clojure and Java which enables them to build a wide range of application types. #Clojure IDE #JavaScript IDE #Write Code #Clojure #JavaScript #Development
Nightcode is a handy integrated development environment that is aimed at programmers who are looking for a tool that can help them with projects written in Clojure or Java. With it you are able to create console, Android, iOS, .NET, desktop, web and graphics applications, as well as write code that is to be used in games.
A great advantage to Nightcode is the fact that its graphic user interface is very well put together, making its use rather intuitive. Not only does it look good, it also provides quick access to all its functions and features by enabling keyboard shortcuts.
The application is comprised out of a single window that is split into adjustable sections which you can use to browse the content of a project, edit code and compile it.
As mentioned before, Nightcode enables you to work on applications that can run on different platforms and devices. Whenever you want to create a new project, the application delightfully presents you with a number of templates to choose from.
Nightcode was born as a Clojure tool but it can very well handle pure Java code. If you’re considering to start a project using this IDE, the templates come in very handy, especially since for one type of project you get multiple examples.
On the other hand, if you’re not that new to Clojure you can very well import projects and work on them. The only issue that you may encounter is tied to the fact that Nightcode uses Leiningen to help run commands, test the project and for this reason you might need to edit some code for the latter to make perfect sense of what it has to do.
Nightcode is a nicely built tool with a lot of potential that you can spot immediately as you start to use it. There is a decent number of functions that allow you to test for new versions of dependencies, it offers syntax highlighting and code completion, among others.
With the above to consider and a few more things to discover, if you’re looking for a reliable IDE that works with both Clojure and Java, then you can certainly give Nightcode a run.
