Because it provides updated management functionality for IT users, the Windows Management Framework is the core of Microsoft’s task automation framework and helps you to use management technologies available in all operating systems starting from Windows 7 and ending up with Windows 2012 R2.
Considering the improvements and the useful features that each OS comes with, Windows Management Framework integrates several components namely Windows PowerShell, Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment, Windows PowerShell Web Services, Windows Remote Management and Windows Management Infrastructure.
Each component provides you with useful options that enhance your Windows experience and enables you to manage the infrastructure of your operating system in an intuitive way.
That being said, Windows PowerShell comes with full access to COM and WMI so you can perform administrative tasks on both local and remote systems. Also, it provides you with a hosting API so you can embed Windows PowerShell into several applications and implement certain operations.
By using Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment, or shortly known as Windows PowerShell ISE, allows you to run interactive commands in a console pane, create, debug and run functions in a script pane, as well as manage and automate your environment.
The next component, Windows PowerShell Web Services (known also as PSWS or Management OData IIS Extension) enables you to get a more detailed overview of all the ocurred errors. It also allows you to expand an associated instance while running a query.
Windows Remote Management, shortly known as WinRM comes with an easy way to access and exchange information across an IT infrastructure. Also, using Windows Remote Management you have the possibility to obtain management data from local and remote computers, hardware and system data etc.
Las but not least is Windows Management Infrastructure, which is also known as WMI, enables you to quickly write WMI scripts or applications in order to automate administrative tasks on remote computers.
Considering all of the above, Windows Management Framework is a reliable package that includes management functionality available to be installed on various operating systems.
