MarkdownPad

MarkdownPad is a resourceful application developed to aid web designers in writing HTML code. It sports an intuitive set of options along with useful configuration preferences.

Setting up the program takes little time and does not require special attention. Once it is done, you are greeted by a comfortable UI whose structure resembles the one of a common word processor.

Help documentation is immediately loaded at startup. MarkdownPad offers support for syntax highlighting and live previewing. It allows users to insert preset tags, such as bold, italic, quote, code, heading, hyperlink, image, ordered list, horizontal rule, and time stamp. The project can be previewed in the default web browser.

You can enter full screen mode to eliminate any distractions, display line numbers, disable word wrapping mode and syntax highlighting, set a column guide, as well as hide the toolbar and status bar.

The current session can be saved for later modifications, and you can enable an auto-save feature to prevent unexpected data loss. Selected text or the entire document can be copied to the Clipboard as HTML, while a search function is provided throughout the entire file for keywords and lines. Apart from exporting the project to HTML, MarkdownPad offers support for PDF.

When it comes to program options, you can customize the appearance (e.g. background and font color, display formatting marks in editor), change the UI language, select the rendering mode (full document or high performance), add custom CSS, and so on.

The program uses moderate RAM and low CPU. It offers support for keyboard shortcuts and performs well. We have not come across any issues in our tests, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.

In a nutshell, MarkdownPad comes packed with some attractive features for HTML editing, allowing individuals of all levels of experience to take a shot at editing and building HTML files.
