ResEdit

ResEdit is a simple-to-use and portable application that lets you edit resources for Win32 programs. It offers support for Resource Scripts (RC, DLG), Portable Executable Files (EXE, DLL, OCX, MUI) and Compiled Resource Scripts (RES).

Since installation is not required, you can drop the program files anywhere on the disk and click the executable to run, as well as run ResEdit on any workstation from a USB flash disk or similar storage unit.

In the user-friendly interface you can load files using either the file browser or drag-and-drop function.

It is possible to view and edit resources, use a search function, as well as add a new resource, such as accelerator, bitmap, cursor, dialog, icon, menu, string table, or toolbar.

You can preview resource or C/C++ code, check out log details, enable an autosave feature for the layout, switch to another UI language, choose the tab mode, make file associations, include paths, edit dialog properties, as well as customize the image editor, among other configuration options.

The software utility has a good response time and uses a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it doesn't burden user activity. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. ResEdit comes bundled with some powerful tools for editing resource files.
