Bentley View V8i SELECTseries 4

Bentley View V8i is a comprehensive software application that you can use to view and print AutoCAD drawings (DNG, DWG and DXF formats), which integrates a few useful options that target advanced users.

The interface is professional-looking and well-organized. Drawings can be loaded into the workspace using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support.

You can browse for items, explore projects and manage rasters, use a text search function, adjust the drawing scale, as well as enable locks (e.g. axis, unit).

It is possible to generate templates and reports, view attributes, change the size (e.g. maintain view parameters), zoom in and out, rotate the drawing, and assign keyboard shortcuts.

Other options of the application let you select links, define display sets, fit the view, copy objects to the Clipboard, pick a geographic coordinate system, as well as close all docked and undocked toolboxes, among others.

Bentley View V8i has a fair response time but uses a massive amount of CPU and RAM. In other words, it might interrupt user activity. We haven't come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. However, it is pretty high-demanding, making Bentley View V8i less appealing to users.
