Dxf2xyz is a simple-to-use tool that allows you to turn AutoCAD files (DXF and DWG) into the XYZ and BLN formats. This type of software can be of assistance when you want to extract XYZ coordinates from AutoCAD items.
The interface of the program is based on a file browser that lets you easily locate and select documents for processing. Unfortunately, you cannot work with multiple items at the same time.
So, all you have to do is select the output date format between BLN, raw XYZ triplets, Move to (0), Draw to (1), and ID XYZ triplets, as well as specify the output directory and filename, in order to initialize the conversion procedure.
But you can also enable 2D mode, chain contiguous elements, decimal places and entity headers. The items to convert can be filtered when it comes to entities (points, lines, polylines, text), layers (all layers or a single one), pens (all pens or specific ones) and the region (whole model or terrain, insert points where lines cross the boundary).
The simplistic program runs on a low-to-moderate amount of CPU and system memory, in order to convert an item as quickly as possible. It has a good response time and includes a help file for all users levels.
We have not encountered any difficulties during our tests; Dxf2xyz did not freeze, crash or pop up errors. Too bad batch processing is not supported. Also, you cannot set the tool to open the output file or folder after conversion. No recent updates have been made.
