Home Plan Pro is a CAD drawing software utility that integrates a user-friendly environment and rich features for designing 2D working home plans. It targets power users.

The interface is familiar and comfortable. You can start a new plan by configuring zoom level dialog settings. Standard drawing functions include lines, polygons, arcs, walls, measurement, windows, doors, text and images.

It is possible to backup the current plan, import data from DXF and DWG files, take snapshots, save the project as PDF, print the plan or send it via fax or email.

You can switch from full color mode to black and white, toggle the US/metric system and convert dimensions, edit existing colors in the plan, customize toolbar hotkeys, as well as calculate areas and linear distances.

Auto-drawing tools include contiguous lines, dimensions and walls, stairs and French doors, to name a few. Other options of Home Plan Pro let you manage layers, insert pictures from external files, create columns from selected text, and so on.

The program has a good response time and uses a surprisingly low amount of CPU and RAM. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Although it may not be as complex as AutoCAD, Home Plan Pro offers a user-friendly environment for creating home plans.

To sum it up, Home Plan Pro lives up to expectations by providing a powerful workspace suited with mostly the bare necessities in order to build a house. It uses little system resources and if properly managed, it provides a result worthy of having it around for more that a try.
