The calculator application was designed to be a small program in which you type out the expression rather than hitting buttons.

Easier to use and faster than the calculator that comes with Windows. For instance, you can type in something like (pi*12/4+3^(5-2)+3*(2-(6-3)*pi)), then hit enter, and it will produce the answer.
