Small File Encrypter is highly suggestive just from the start. This compact program lets you secure your sensitive data using a handful of algorithms, with the possibility to process bulks. It might look a tad old, but the dashboard design is no indication of the app's functionality.

One can start by selecting the files in need of protection. The left side panel will take care of that. Choosing a single file for protection is easy, but there is a small trick when it comes to batches.

If fact, it's more of a downside, as holding down CTRL and clicking the items required is not really working. The way it works is this: Hold CTRL and click a file to add a directional arrow near it. If the item is high on the list, the arrow will point down, and vice-versa. Use the same action on another file, and what gets caught in between will be included in the mix. One additional click on any of the arrows will highlight the batch, no matter the arrow/file you click on. This aspect does not help with free item selection, and will probably confuse many beginners.

Before encrypting a file, you might want to change the encryption algorithm. Search the Nominal entry on the toolbar to access that menu. Nominal 480 bit is an intermediary algorithm, but you can choose between 180 bit, 984, 2072, 4056, and 8000 bits, depending on how strong of protection you want.

Also, type down the password in the immediate field beneath the toolbar. If a password is not determined, the Encrypt button won't become active. Keep your passwords safe, as the program will also help you with file decryption.
