Recovering a forgotten password is always a challenge, especially if all the provided systems to get back your password aren't working.
Well, Messenger Key promises to help you when struggling to recover your instant messaging password, but only if certain requirements are met.
Using the application is quite simple because it relies on a plain-looking interface with just a few options. Basically, the whole job comes down to pressing the 'Recover' button that prompts you to pick the app you're using, be it MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger or ICQ.
There is no configuration screen, just a dedicated tool to save reports as text documents and thus keep the passwords in a safe place.
The password recovery process goes very fast, and that's absolutely no surprise since Messenger Key does nothing more than to scan the system for saved passwords. The program only works if you checked the 'Remember password' option in the instant messaging client you're using, otherwise it has zero chances to help you.
Messenger Key also lacks a help file because the included documentation is just a generic file used by the developer for all his applications. Searching the Internet doesn't help either, but the program is pretty intuitive so you shouldn't experience too many problems with it.
The thing we liked the most about Messenger Key is the fact that it supports most popular instant messaging clients out there, but more improvements are a must. In addition, a help file is of course mandatory, while a configuration screen and many more options would be great.
All in all, Messenger Key might come in handy if you can't remember a password, but in case you didn't check the 'Remember password' option, it's completely useless.
