Password Generator

Developed in Java, Password Generator is a simple application capable of creating random and secure passwords. These can be used to protect your private information, such as email accounts, wireless network connections, documents, videos, or pictures.

It features an intuitive set of configuration properties that can be approached even by users with little or no previous experience in key creation tools.

Provided that you already have Java installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. The program's packed in a single executable .jar file that can be dropped anywhere on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit to seamlessly launch it on any PC with Java. It doesn't add new entries to the system registry or create files on the disk without letting you know about it.

Regarding the interface, Password Generator opts for a small window with a plain and simple layout, revealing all options put at your disposal and enabling you to quickly dive into the configuration process.

It's capable of generating only one key at a time. Unfortunately, it doesn't implement support for simultaneously coming up with numerous passwords. However, it's designed to create very large keys. Apart from using them to protect data, it's possible to apply the keys as serial numbers for software development.

When it comes to the key complexity, Password Generator can include only uppercase letters, only numbers, both. It asks you to select the number of letters and numbers, and any of these two fields can be set to 0 to exclude them. Lowercase letters aren't taken into account at all, while symbols are optional.

Passwords are made on the spot and shown in this window. If you're not pleased with a specific key, you can create a new one with the click of a button. Otherwise, it can be copied to the Clipboard to paste into a text editor and save to file.

Unsurprisingly from such a compact utility, system resources consumption was minimal, as it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. The app remained stable throughout its runtime, without hanging, crashing or prompting errors.

On the other hand, we expected a more flexible set of customization options, as well as support for creating multiple keys at once. Nevertheless, Password Generator is easy to use and straightforward, as long as you have Java Runtime Environment.
