Softpedia Editor's Review for Portable Efficient Password Manager
|
Completely free but beautiful, easy-to-use and powerful password software
Written by Elena Opris on May 17th, 2012
This is the portable version of Efficient Password Manager - a tool that you can use to store your passwords in a secured environment.
Since installation is not necessary, you can place Efficient Password Manager on a removable device, plug it into any computer and directly run its executable file. What's more important is that your Windows registry keys will remain unchanged.
The interface of the application is plain and pretty intuitive. You can add a new entry by specifying its title, location, user name, account ID, password and comment.
But you can also set its priority level and manage entries according to their category (e.g. software registration code, FTP account).
In addition, you can check out a list of favorite URLs, use a comprehensive search function (along with cut, copy and paste), backup and restore your data, change the interface style, and more.
In "Options" you can specify the default view on startup, enable Efficient Password Manager to automatically run at system startup, allow multiple instances, enable to require login from minimized state, make file associations, modify fonts, and others.
Portable Efficient Password Manager uses a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, contains a well-written help file (too bad it doesn't have snapshots) and has a very good response time. The tool didn't freeze or crash during our tests.
On the other hand, the unregistered version is severely limited. For example, you cannot add attachments and links to entries, as well as create new groups. Other than that, we strongly recommend Portable Efficient Password Manager to all users.
