WIFI Key Generator (formerly Wifigen) 1.0

As its name suggests, WIFI Key Generator is a lightweight and simple tool designed for generating security keys, in order to help you secure your Wi-Fi connection.

Wireless networks are secured using specific security protocols that can encrypt the data you send over the network, thus preventing others from accessing your Internet connection. WIFI Key Generator can create WPA keys (Wired Equivalent Privacy, the oldest protocol), but also WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) or PSK (pre-shared key). The last two are more recent and safer protocols designed to overcome some of the WEP's shortcomings.

The application provides you with a simple and clean interface, where you can also view some instructions on how to use it to obtain the key type your device requires. Based on a user-defined or a random text, called 'Phrase', the software automatically generates the Wi-Fi security code.

Depending on your WLAN encryption type, you might need a 64, 128, 152 or 256-bit key. In order to generate it, you have to enter a phrase of a certain number of characters. For instance, entering a 29 character word results in a 256-bit encryption key.

If you want to get the WEP, WPA or PSK key more easily, simply choose the random phrase option and press the 'Generate' button!

The generated key contains only digits and letters from A to F and can be saved to a text file on your system for later reference. Use this key to setup your wireless device, which enables the connected devices to exchange encoded messages, while protecting the network from eavesdropping.
