Disk Redactor is a WIPE utility, that prevent restoration of the old ( deleted ) files at your disks. All free space at your hard disk will be wiped from an old information. This is necessary because the delete function does not clear the space where deleted file is located and just mark the entry in directory ( folder ) that the file is deleted.
But actually all file information is still present on the disk and can be restored! Old information will be available until the other file will overwrite it ( will use the same space at the disk ).
The functions that Disk Redactor performs are wiping all free unused space on your disks, and writing a big file with zeros to overwrite all old (deleted) files on your drive. After using Disk Redactor, all old data will be erased completely without any chances for its recovery.
