Secure Wipe

Secure Wipe is yet another piece of software that can be used to permanently erase a user-defined file.

The application can remove both files and folders, but the GUI is not at all complicated and allows all user categories to quickly figure out the purpose of each option.

Features are organized in tabs, all listed at the bottom of the main window, so you can quickly jump to “Eraser”, access settings or read the about.

Erasing a file or a folder is as simple as it can be, so simply input the path to the target item and you are ready to go. Advanced users on the other hand are highly recommended to have a look in the settings screen because it allows them to pick the file removal method and the number of passes per file.

The supported erasing methods include Gutmann, RCMP, US Dod E and pseudorandom. There are some options too in order to delete subfolders and quit the app once the process comes to an end.

Secure Wipe is most of the time a pretty fast application, but it still lacks some important features, at least as compared to the other similar tools on the market. For instance, it doesn't offer Context Menu integration, which is quite a helpful feature given the fact that it allows users to remove files straight from Windows Explorer.

To sum up all of the above, Secure Wipe can clearly lend you a hand when it comes to deleting a file once and for all, especially because it does everything so fast. It does need some feature updates, but it's a good thing that it works smoothly on all Windows versions, without even requiring administrator privileges.
