The Vanishware WebTracker aapplication was designed to prevent unwanted files from being stored on a computers hard drive when browsing the Internet. When a web page is browsed to, files such as images and cookies are stored in an internal cache on the computer. For more details about the cache see the section What is an Internet Cache.
The important thing to realize is that these files are stored in a variety of areas, all of which may not be visible to the user. Web Tracker solves this problem.
Like other cache management programs, Web Tracker can clear a computers history and cache. Unlike other products, only Web Tracker can monitor your cache in real time and remove cache items that occur between a start and stop time set by the user. This key feature allows users to start tracking their cache before browsing and then remove the cache items after browsing has been completed. Of course Web Tracker can also clean the entire cache if desired.
The main feature of the tracker is the tree view that displays the cache items as they are tracked. There are two primary items where cache items will be displayed, the Images tree node and the Files tree node. Images such as bitmaps (.bmp), JPegs (.jpg) and Gif (.gif) files are stored under the images tree node.
All other cache items are stored in the files tree node.To start tracking the computer cache, click on the Start Tracking toolbar button. When this toolbar button is checked (pressed in) track mode is turned on.
Any Internet site that is browsed to will have cache items placed under the images or files tree nodes in real time.To stop tracking the computer cache click on the Start Tracking button again. When tracking is off, any site visited will not place cache items under the images or files tree nodes.
