editor's review

CD Key Reader is a simple and reliable tool that displays the serial number used to install your Windows copy. It addresses all types of users, whether they are novices or advanced.

The utility comes in handy when you want to reinstall the operating system but you have lost, forgotten or misplaced the serial key.

The installation operation does not take a long time to finish and does not require any special input from the user.

Once it is done, you can check out the regular window with the simple layout, representing CD Key Reader's interface.

The program automatically displays the serial number of Windows upon deployment, provided that you have administrative privileges. Aside from this information, you can check out the Windows name, version, install location and file system type.

Unfortunately, the tool does not come bundled with a "Copy" button for the key, and does not give you the possibility of exporting it to file (e.g. TXT format). However, you can open the context menu to use the global Copy function, and copy the serial key to the Clipboard.

CD Key Reader is very low-demanding in regard to the CPU and system memory, so it doesn't affect the computer's overall performance. It has a good response time and immediately shows the serial key of the operating system, without hanging, crashing or show error notifications. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, CD Key Reader can be used even by beginners.
