Hide Folders XP is a program that can ensure your folders with security, by hiding or locking them.
The user interface of the tool is plain and simple. You can insert folders by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" method.
So, you can hide, lock or hide and lock an item. These options can be accessed in the context menu, file menu or menu bar.
Furthermore, you can enable and disable protection, change the password and wipe tracks (e.g. clear all links from the "Recent" folder).
In the "Settings" menu, you can set an action for when a window is closed or minimized, or when protection is disabled on quit (e.g. prompt user).
In addition, you integrate Hide Folders XP in the Explorer context menu, enable the tool to disable protection when Hide Folders XP pops up or to ask for the password when someone is attempting to uninstall it.
Plus, you can set Hide Folders XP to automatically run at system startup, wipe tracks (on quit, when minimizing to tray, at startup), automatically check for updates and hide uninstall information.
But you can also protect files and folders in Windows Safe Mode, assign keyboard hotkeys, change the interface language, import or export a Hide Folders XP items list, and more.
The application uses a low amount of system resources and includes a well-drawn help file with snapshots. Also, tips are displayed on the lower part of the window. Hide Folders XP didn't freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests.
However, you cannot configure any advanced settings and the trial version has some harsh limitations (as you can see in the Product Description below).
All in all, Hide Folders XP is a simple and effective tool for maintaining the privacy of your folders. It can be easily used by beginners.
