The tool's packed in a user-friendly interface, where you can start adding files and folders to the main window for backup. Special directories can be quickly selected when it comes to Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Internet Explorer Favorites, temp folders, and installed fonts.

Unfortunately, the app doesn't give you the possibility to create custom folders for quick selections. The output location can be either a folder on the local disk, removable device or network drive, or a FTP directory.

It's possible to exclude any files or folders, set the recurring backup job in any number of days, hours and minutes without your intervention, enable copy animation for non-FTP backups, disable status messages on task completion, or use the index of an item in the list instead of a full folder path in the backup directory.

1-abc.net Backup can be asked to run at every Windows startup until further notice and to minimize to the system tray. It can break down long paths in file and folder lists, start in full screen mode, display a real-time scheduler that counts down time until the next scheduled backup, as well as record backup history to log files. The project can be saved to file and later resumed.

The application had minimal impact on computer performance in our tests during backups. It carried out tasks in reasonable time and didn't cause the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages.

To sum it up, 1-abc.net Backup has some advanced and approachable options for scheduling automatic backups on the local system or a FTP server. It's geared toward all user levels. However, it doesn't bring anything new to the table when considering the full package price.
