When using a computer on a daily basis, accidents might occur – such as accidentally deleting important files or confidential data that is needed for a project. If these files have already been deleted from the Recycle Bin, a dedicated recovery software solution is needed, such as Avira UnErase Personal.

Supported drives

As suggested by its title, this application is meant to restore all the files that have been deleted from a certain drive, be it FAT16, FAT32, NTFS4 or NTFS5. Furthermore, it can detect and recover encrypted files, compressed ones, streams and even multiple items that have the same filename.

Scanning operations

Users simply need to choose the drive they want to scan for erased data, then wait for Avira UnErase Personal to complete the scanning process. Depending on the size of the source partition, this task might take longer to finish or it displays the results within a few minutes.

After analyzing the hard drive, Avira UnErase Personal generates a detailed list with all the found items, specifying their name, size and type, along with the creation time and the exact time the files were last created.

Before undeleting a file, users can analyze the estimated recovery status, so they know beforehand what to expect before restoring an item – thus, the files can be Good, various degrees of Average and Poor.

Recovering options

After selecting one or several files to be unerased, people are required to select the destination location, and Avira UnErase Personal displays a message window informing users that it is not recommended to store these recovered items to the same location as the one they have been removed from.

Bottom line

To wrap it up, Avira UnErase Personal is a simple and intuitive application that can restore one’s files without needing complex configuration or setting up. However, this tool can only be deployed at home, for private use, as commercial use requires a paid license.
