CopyCat description |
|
|
CopyCat makes your backup and repetitive copy tasks easy CopyCat will help protect your valuable software and files! It makes your repetitive copying/backup of files and/or folders easy. Just set up a simple script once and automate the process thereafter. You can even choose what part of a script you may want to execute. Scripts are stored in Ini files and you may have any number of these.
CopyCat will copy files and/or folders to the destination you choose, with the option to exclude files and/or folders. The destination can be a folder or a compressed (Zip) file. Compressed files may have program-generated labels or labels of your choice. Compressed files may also be limited in size to to enable easy copying to CDs, etc. Sources and destinations can be on local or network drives. Source folders are copied retaining the hierarchy of folders, subfolders, and files. Destination folders and files may contain automatically-inserted date and/or time stamps to avoid overwriting previous results.
CopyCat will use either Standard, Differential, or Incremental copying.
- "Standard" copies all files that are specified as Source items or contained in folders that are part of Source items. - "Differential" copies files selectively by comparing the "last modification" date/time of a file against the "Last Copy" date/time recorded in the script for that source item. Files that have equal or later "last modification" date/times will be copied. "Last Copy" date/time may be set manually and will be updated each time a copy occurs with Standard or Differential modes. - "Incremental" copies files selectively by comparing the "last modification" date/time of a file against the "Last Copy" date/time recorded in the script for that source item. Files that have equal or later "last modification" date/times will be copied. "Last Copy" date/time may be set manually, but is not updated with this mode.
CopyCat has extensive scheduling capabilities to satisfy almost any requirement and can be used in conjunction with Windows Scheduler for even more flexibility. You can assign multiple schedules to Source items.
CopyCat records activities in a log file that can be viewed to check status. CopyCat also provides flexible searching capabilities for the log file. The log file can be on-going or optionally cleared.
CopyCat has optional email notification of skipped files and errors, and optional email confirmation of operations to facilitate use on attended machines.
