An alternative to the default file explorer that provides more file management operations, powerful archiving options, side-by-side navigation, and more. #Backup file #Automate backup #Compress folder #Compress #Decompress #Archive
Moving files from one location to another is a simple task, but not if you need to handle a lot of files, or the task needs to be done pretty often. Sure enough, you can rely on File Explorer, but you’re missing out on some helpful features. That’s why there are a lot of alternative file managers to use, just like Eazel.
Before you rush to see what it’s all about, you need to install it. Pay attention to every Next button you press along the way, because you can end up with other third-party application installed as well, and even some changes to the way your default web browser behaves.
When you launch it, the feeling is that of a slightly modified File Explorer, but without the left navigation panel. Initially bringing you to the computer content, you can navigate to any location, set multiple favorite locations for quick access, and even change the view. There’s the possibility to bring up a second panel, making it easy to transfer files between two locations.
The application can be completely relied on for file management operations, and even if the context-menu isn’t fitted with your default one, it does just fine, and also provides a few extra features. Sadly, you can’t replace the default explorer in case you like this one more.
Besides simple file management and navigation, there are several other tools to take advantage of. One example is the built-in archiver, which lets you compress and extract files to and from various popular archives. When setting one up, multiple compression options can be used, as well as a password for more protection.
What’s more, the application lets you split large files into multiple chunks, making it possible to transfer them easier over the web or via small removable drives. However, the file you split needs to be larger than 10MB, which is the lowest limit of a chunk.
Accessing the options menu lets you associate various archive extensions with the application. It’s also possible to have a context menu entry created for this task. Moreover, you can specify a default editor, but every file you decide to Edit opens up in the selected program.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Eazel is nothing more than a different imagining of File Explorer, since it doesn’t bring much innovation, or any extra special features. Navigation only benefits from a second panel, while management is a bit reduced, considering you don’t have access to the default system context menu. It’s not much, but it can do if you want something other than File Explorer.
What's new in Eazel 3.0:
- It has a new compression algorithm much faster than other similar applications that beats 2 to 10% the level of compression than other similar tools, including the famous WinZip.
