Word Password Unlocker
Word Password Unlocker is a cross-platform application that can help you recover lost passwords from DOC and DOCX files.
The user interface is simple, and it doesn’t take a lot of time to get used to working with this tool. Unfortunately, you cannot drag and drop the documents directly into the main window, so you should use the built-in browse button.
Word Password Unlocker provides three different modes for helping you recover passwords, namely Brute-force attack, Brute-force with Mask attack and Dictionary attack.
The first mode tries all the possible combinations randomly until it gets the right password, and it is recommended to be activated in case the password has a short length and low complexity. Obviously, if the password has many characters, the number of possible matches will increase, and it might take some time until the application manages to recover the password.
You can opt for the second recovery mode if you still remember some parts of your passwords. It is possible to specify the minimum and maximum length of the password, select the character set, and provide the start or end of the password.
The last recovery mode is able to seek the possible password combinations from a Notepad file. You can create a list with the characters that are frequently used when creating passwords, such as name, birthplace, birthday and others, and then upload the file to the list. This way, you can increase your chances of recovering the password.
The log window can give you details about the events and possible errors. It also offers time estimation for completing the job. By enabling the auto-saving feature, the program will save the passwords at a specified period of time.
In conclusion, Word Password Unlocker is an application that is able to recover lost passwords by providing three different modes to deal with the process. Thanks to its straightforward layout, it can be mastered by beginners and experts alike.
