Character Encoding Converter

You can choose the source and output type of the text documents, indicate the saving directory of the new files, ask the tool to perform translations or to disregard this aspect, and set the buffer size. Moreover, you can create a prefix for the output file names as well as allow the app to overwrite the source files if they have the same names.

Additional options are available in the menu bar, where you can swap the source and output encoding types, store the encoding names to the clipboard (grouped or ungrouped), view system information, and configure UTF options, such as setting UTF-8 with or without BOM.

Text documents were carried out quickly in our tests while the software program remained light on system resources consumption. Although Character Encoding Converter hasn't been updated for a very long time, we haven't encountered any compatibility issues with Windows 10 in our testing. Thanks to its approachable interface and options, it can be used by anyone looking for a fast way of changing the encoding mode of plain text documents.
