DupFinder

As the name implies, DupFinder is a program capable of locating duplicate files on your computer. It comes in handy when you want to free up space on your hard drive, and it addresses users of any level of experience.

The app's interface is based on a standard window with a well-organized layout. You can use the folder view to select a directory and add it to the search list. It is possible for DupFinder to look in multiple locations.

You can optimize the search process by establishing the minimum and maximum file size, and by specifying a filename mask. But you may also include subidrectories and hidden files in the search job.

While DupFinder tries to find duplicate files on your hard drive, you can view log details together with the total number of found files and their size, progress and speed.

The easy-to-use application runs on a very low quantity of CPU and system memory, has a good response time to key strokes and mouse events, and takes a decent amount of time to finish a scanning job, depending on the size of the specified folder. We have not encountered any problems during our testing; DupFinder did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.

Some improvements are welcomed in the visual department of the interface, but we must take into account the fact that the app has not been updated for a long time. Otherwise, thanks to its intuitive layout and filter settings, DupFinder should be able to satisfy the requirements of the entire audience.
