File Attribute Stripper

File Attribute Stripper is a feather-light application designed to strip the read-only, hidden, system and archive file attributes of any selected items.

The program's not wrapped in a setup kit. All you have to do is drop the downloaded .exe file in any part of the disk and double-click it. On the other hand, you must know that this is a very old tool and doesn't work on 64-bit Windows. Plus, it requires you to have VBRUN300.DLL (Visual Basic 3.0 runtime library).

When it comes to the interface, it adopts a classical window with a built-in file browser, where you can get started by selecting the file attributes to take into account when finding files. This means that the utility doesn't automatically list all files from the computer, but only those matching a specific set of attributes.

In the result list you can view the attributes and full path of each file, as well as select one or more entries from the list to click a button and perform the attribute removal operation.

This is carried out almost instantly, after which the application is reset, so you must perform a new search if you want to continue using File Attribute Stripper. Apart from the fact that you can pick another root drive from a drop-down list as well as stop an ongoing search, there are no other notable options.

It's a bit tricky to set up the required environment for launching File Attribute Stripper, especially since it doesn't have a Readme file. It's quite obvious this is a rudimentary program for older computer systems only. Nevertheless, it's still capable of removing file attributes for multiple items in batch mode.
