Nero MD5 Verifier
Nero MD5 Verifier is a tiny and portable Windows application that you can use to find out whether a downloaded installer is valid or not by comparing its MD5 checksum with the one of the original file. It does not come equipped with complicated options, so it can be handled by all types of users, regardless of their experience level.
As there is not setup pack implied, you can move the executable file to any location on the HDD and click it run immediately run Nero MD5 Verifier. There is also the possibility to save a copy of the tool to a removable storage device (like a USB flash disk), in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
It should be mentioned that Nero MD5 Verifier does not make any modifications to the Windows registry, not create extra files on the disk, leaving it clean after removal.

The GUI is based on a single window with an intuitive layout, where you have to follow only two simple steps: paste the MD5 hash of the original file, and point out the downloaded installer using the file browser (only NRG, EXE and ZIP formats are supported). Nero MD5 Verifier immediately informs you whether the two MD5 signatures are identical or not.
Evaluation and conclusion
The app verifies hashes rapidly while remaining light on the system resources. It worked smoothly during our evaluation, without causing Windows to hang, crash or pop up error messages. All in all, Nero MD5 Verifier is fast, effective and can be used by anyone, thanks to its overall simplicity.
