Self-monitoring, analysis and reporting technology (S.M.A.R.T.) is a technology to protect user data and minimize the likelihood of unscheduled system downtime that may be caused by predictable degradation and/or fault of the device. By monitoring and storing critical performance and calibration parameters, S.M.A.R.T. devices attempt to predict the likelihood of near-term degradation or fault condition. Providing the host system the knowledge of a negative reliability condition, allows the host system to warn the user of the impending risk of a data loss and advise the user of appropriate action.

Adenix S.M.A.R.T. Explorer is an application and underlying API that lets you monitor reliability and performance of S.M.A.R.T. compatible ATA/ATAPI devices installed on local system and, under certain circumstances, across the network. The exposed API allows to access S.M.A.R.T. functions easily from a variety of Integrated Development Environments (IDE).

Adenix S.M.A.R.T. Explorer is designed to monitor not only computer's hard drive. It's capable of monitoring remote hard drives via network through DCOM technology.

Adenix S.M.A.R.T. Explorer is designed to work on Windows patform including Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2K/XP systems. However, some features may not work on Windows 95/98/Me systems.

Adenix S.M.A.R.T. Explorer provides an API to be used through automation. The availability of Component Object Model object hierarchy allows to use Adenix S.M.A.R.T. Explorer functionality from a variety of programming languages including Microsoft Visual Basic and Visual C++, Inprise Delphi and C++ Builder, Scripting languages and other. You will find object hierarchy documentation in the help file included into installation package.
