Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks (DPAN)

The Internet is filled with all sort of applications that you could use in order to manage your network. One of them is Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks (DPAN).

It creates a Windows service. The service allows the DPAN Data Controller to run in the background while other applications are running. As long as your operating system is up and running, DPAN can do its job, whether you are logged on or not.

Using DPAN, you can analyze multiple systems on your network, and then generate reports detailing the factors that affect the performance and reliability of those systems. You can select individual systems or groups of systems, based on Domains, IP Range, Custom Groups, or Active Directory groups.

After analyzing the selected systems, the DPAN report graphically shows the performance degradation caused by fragmentation. You can then use this information to better address the problem with programs such as Diskeeper performance software.

After installation, the DPAN service starts automatically each time your computer is restarted. This service runs all the time, whether or not any DPAN actions are occurring. This service consumes negligible system resources, and in most cases will never need to be disabled.

DPAN gathers necessary configuration information from you the first time that information is needed. Once established, most DPAN configuration settings need no additional action. The Configure DPAN console provides a method to view and edit the DPAN configuration properties.
