DriveSitter

DriveSitter is a software program that allows you to analyze, diagnose and monitor your hard drive. The program is based upon a monitoring system called S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). Basically, this program software was designed to help users see when their HDD is in danger of crashing and thus, preventing data loss.

The interface of DriveSitter is quite easy to use, no matter how inexperienced you may be. On the upper side of the main screen, you will be able to see the Menu Bar containing all the actions you can take, such as saving the information gathered by the program at a certain point in time, exporting it, showing test reports and so on. This is followed by a panel with buttons corresponding to the most used actions in the program. Finally, taking up approximately 80% of the main window, there will be a list of all the attributes that DriveSitter tracks paired with your HDD scores.

A nice thing about this app is that it is able to track 30 different HDD health related attributes per drive. All of these will be shortly explained, so that even beginners can understand what they are looking at. Every attribute has a worst observed value defined by the manufacturer, so that you can better asses when your hard drive is beginning to fray around the edges.

In addition to that, the app is able to display all the details regarding your HDD, such as the serial number, firmware revision, ATA/ATAPI version, modes and capabilities and so on.

To conclude, DriveSitter is a very useful tool that can help any type of user, no matter how inexperienced, predict when something bad might happen to their hard drive.
