If you’re in the market for a powerful yet easy to use hard-disk utility, chances are that you’ve come in the right place.
Because HD Tune claims to offer exactly the things a user would need when trying to get some valuable information about his hard disk but without getting too deep into technical details.
And as far as we’re concerned, you can’t really get something easier than that.
HD Tune is able to conduct a benchmark to show you the minimum, the average and the maximum transfer rates, alongside burst rate and access time, but at the same time, it can also scan the device for errors.
Probably the most impressive thing is that the application runs very smooth, so you can easily start a benchmark while continuing your work without being bothered by the app.
And even if everything seems to be all milk and honey, it’s not. During our test, we couldn’t see hard disk temperature, although some other software solutions out there show it without any issues. Plus, the app crashes sometimes, but this might be a compatibility issue with Windows 7.
Overall however, HD Tune remains a great piece of software, especially for beginners who don’t want to move on to more complicated things. And the fact that it’s free makes it so much better.
