Using the computer as your main tool for work implies opening multiple applications once your operating system starts. However, not every installed software gives you the possibility to set it to run on startup. Luckily, applications like AutoEX offer a helping hand with this issue and let you set any desired program to be ready for use at startup.

Taking about roughly 500 Kb on your hard disk drive and barely noticeable system resources, your computer won't feel a thing from running it. Moreover, you don't even have to use it too often or leave it running in the background.

The main window of the application is pretty compact, managing to include all available features with no need for extra menus or toolbars. It gets the job done fast, requiring you to select the desired application and hitting the “Start” button is all there is to it.

There are only four aspects you need to consider, from which one does not even require your attention because it automatically gets filled in. You are able to select the user for which the application to launch at startup, or all of them in case you are the administrator.

An integrated option lets you choose whether this should be done each time the computer starts or just once. The desired application is easily selected through a provided file explorer, with no additional options you need to set.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest disappointments is that no implemented function allows you to reverse the process. In case you set too many applications to run at startup, you might considerably slow down your computer, because there is not even an option to delay the process from when the operating system completely loads.

To sum it up, AutoEX wants to give you a helping hand in preparing your computer for work each day. However, it needs to be handled carefully, because limited features might get you to start activities later than you would by manually opening each application you need. The idea behind the concept is neat, but a little rough around the edges overall.
