Your desktop can easily become a crowded place, especially if you work with a large variety of files or regularly install programs. However, you can also prevent this and keep the desktop a clean place for a wallpaper slideshow. For instance, Dbof's TMenu lets you configure a list of programs to launch from a convenient tray menu.

It doesn’t take a lot of time to install the application, and launching it adds a new icon to the tray area. It’s the from there that you can easily launch a custom list of programs. On the bright side, there are different preset list organized in categories and launching some default Windows tools like Notepad, Registry Editor, Calculator, Task Manager, and more.

The settings panel is where you can view and manage this list of items. All of them are shown in a table with related info like name, path, and category. Input fields are in plain sight so you can add new shortcuts on the spot, or edit existing ones through selection.

Drag and drop is not enabled by default, but doing so makes it possible to configure programs a lot easier. If not, you can simply write a name, path, and choose the category from a list of presets. Sadly, you can’t create custom ones, but the predefined list covers most domains of activity.

The tray menu is only brought up when interacting with it. Unfortunately, there’s no support for hotkeys to launch the menu on the desktop from any location. It doesn’t start with Windows either, but this can be easily bypassed by adding a shortcut to the system Startup folder so that it’s ready when you reach the desktop.
