Copernic Desktop Search

Copernic Desktop Search is an intuitive application that provides a powerful search engine on your desktop, targeting local files, local contact and emails, browser history and favorites. It is capable of scanning within files and attachments as well.

The interface is clean and easy to work with, as you can select the targets between emails, files, music, pictures, videos, contacts, favorites, and history. Copernic Desktop Search performs a search for all the file types, allowing you to select the ones you needed afterwards.

You can view all types of categories or navigate to the other tabs dedicated to each one of them (using the mouse or hotkeys). Results show the file name, location, size, and last modification date for each item. It is possible to sort them by folder or date, preview content on the bottom part of the screen, as well as to use the Explorer context menu.

Additional options of Copernic Desktop Search let you refine the search for emails (subject, sender, receiver, date, importance, folder, within attachments), files (name, type, size, date, folder), music (e.g. artist, album, genre), pictures (dimensions, skip images smaller than 32x32 pixels), videos (e.g. duration), and the others.

You can enable keyword highlights, update the index, hide categories from the list, disable query completion and correction, as well as select the email folders, local directories and browsers to index (Internet Explorer, Firefox).

Copernic Desktop Search finishes a search job quickly and error-free. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang or crash. For enhanced features, you can check out the professional edition. Otherwise, Copernic Desktop Search should please all users.
