Softpedia Editor's Review for EasyBCD
|
A handy tool for tweaking your system
Written by Elena Opris on December 7th, 2011
If you have been the lucky owner of a computer for a long time, then you must have started customizing and optimizing it at some point, so the device reflects your preferences but also performs actions at a high speed.
In order to do so, you must make some changes, so your computer will automatically perform a task without asking you.
For instance, if you have multiple operating systems on your computer, then you may wish to change their order at system startup.
In order to do so, you can use EasyBCD.
This tool enables you to change the Windows bootloader, so that you don't have to hit the enter button every time you start your computer.
After a quick installation, you will be greeted by a simple interface with a few buttons on the right.
From here you can view settings, edit boot menu, add new entry, advanced settings, BCD Backup/Repair, BCD Deployment, or Useful Utilities.
In the first option you can see which Windows versions are set up to boot at system startup. If you want more specific details, you can switch to debug mode.
At "Edit Boot Menu" you can modify menu entries, as well as timeout options (e.g. boot default OST after a given number of seconds, or wait for user selection).
New entries can be added (of Windows, Linux, or Mac) from any external devices, while you also have the option of creating a bootable media from a certain partition.
In Useful Utilities you have several options, but most of them will load Windows' tools. For example, EasyBCD Power Console loads up Command Prompter.
The memory resources used by EasyBCD are barely mentionable, and we couldn't find any bugs or errors.
All in all, if you want more control over your computer, then take a look at EasyBCD.
