Lock Me

Lock Me is a lightweight software application whose purpose is to help you lock your screen while you are away, so other users cannot access your private information or make changes to your system.

Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to lock your desktop on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

Lock Me gives you the possibility to lock your screen by setting up passwords.

Plus, you are allowed to change the password, customize the background by uploading a photo from the computer (BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG) or video (AVI, MP4, WMV, MOV), and set the background transparency.

Other notable characteristics worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to use hotkeys for a better control over the entire process (they cannot be reassigned), set up the proxy authentication parameters (domain/username and password), and save the password to a plain text file.

Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to work with this utility, even rookies can master the entire process with minimum effort.

During our testing we have noticed that Lock Me accomplishes a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process. As it would be expected from such a small app, it remains light on system resources, so it doesn’t affect computer performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality.
