Logon WorkShop is a Windows freebie developed to help users customize the Windows 7 logon screen.
It all seems very basic at the first glance, but it's better not to underestimate the program.
The main window of the app shows the installed skins, along with a preview and the basic controls to apply, delete, load, create a new or save the selected item.
But what's more important is the editing feature, which is actually the place where extra patience and more than just basic computer experience may be required.
Logon WorkShop lets you configure every tiny element of a logon screen, including buttons, user tiles, text, user lists, windows, options bar, status text and main frames.
The way it does it however may scare away some beginners because users need to define every item's location manually by inputting margins, padding, width and height values.
Of course, you are also allowed to load your very own photos and customize them, but it's all a lengthy process.
There's no help manual available, and that may be one of the major drawbacks, but the good thing is that advanced users have plenty of customization options to play with.
Windows 7 is the only supported operating system, so administrator privileges are needed to apply a newly-created or installed logon.
All things considered, Logon WorkShop is a handy piece of software, but a more user-friendly approach is definitely needed to interact with all its users. A help section is also recommended, especially because it provides so many customization options.
